CSPS

The Society was formed in 1968 with the objective of restoring, preserving and displaying steam driven equipment.
The Society then established a 30 acre park at McLeans Island and developed a 3ft 6in gauge Bush Railway operating steam and diesel locomotives with passenger carriages and a reconditioned bush railcar.
A fully operational Steam Exhibition Hall was later built to house steam powered equipment sourced from Canterbury, Westland and Marlborough and restored to create a working display of New Zealand’s engineering steam heritage.
The Bush Railway and Steam Exhibition Hall will be fully operational for the publics’ enjoyment at the McLeans Island Vintage Country Fair along with all the other displays from the Vintage Car Club Canterbury Branch and The NZ Vintage Machinery Club.
